It's great so many people in the neighborhood and beyond feel strongly enough to contact city govt officials about the attempt to rezone the strip of wooded land that creates a buffer between Old Starmount and the sunbaked Friendly Center.
Speaking of which, I wish the new portion of Friendly Center--or the shops at friendly--had been built as originally planned--a treed, walker-friendly 'lifestyle center.' It's really not walkable, the different areas of the mall are not interconnected w/walkways to make walking pleasant/ez. And there is nowhere near enough greenery to make shopping there shady.
The looming BB&T building and surrounding parking lot radiating heat right on Friendly Ave at the corner of the mall is quite ghastly--once there were giant willow oaks there.
